Dorsey Norton Immediate Care Center moves to new state of the art facility in Middletown | Business
From Courtney Bisig
LOUISVILLE, KY - On Jan. 11, 2013, Norton Immediate Care Center – Dorsey Plaza and Norton Community Medical Associates – Dorsey will move to a new, state-of-the-art facility and be renamed Norton Immediate Care Center – Middletown and Norton Community Medical Associates – Middletown. The new space, located at 12903 Shelbyville Road, will provide a patient-focused environment for area families and bring the newest in health care technology to the Middletown area. It is estimated that 45 percent of adults in the United States do not have a primary care physician. Norton Healthcare makes it easy to find a family physician by combining immediate care centers with physician services in locations that are convenient for patients in our community.
“Nine of our 12 immediate care centers share space with a practice,” said Annamaria Newkirk, director, Norton Immediate Care Centers. “Patients who come to the immediate care center without a primary care physician can be referred to one in the same building.”
The previous site for the immediate care center and physician practice was at 10284 Shelbyville Road in Dorsey Plaza. With much of the area’s patient population moving toward Middletown, that location was no longer the most convenient.
While convenience is a key factor for the move, the growth potential for the new location is also a large benefit to patients and employees. All patient exam rooms have been equipped with the Epic electronic medical records system to ensure the most effective and efficient care possible as well as allow patients to access their own medical records. The new facility will also have updated furnishings, additional parking, more spacious rooms and be handicap accessible.
“Our new state-of-the-art facility brings patient-focused design and the best technology to the Middletown area,” said Melissa Morehouse, director, Physician Services Operations, Practice Administration, Norton Physician Services. “The new practice will be able to serve the expanding medical needs of the community for generations to come.”
